  1. Howdy! I know this is kind of off-topic but I had to ask.
Does managing a well-established website like yours take a massive amount work?
I’m completely new to operating a blog but I do write in my journal every day. I’d like to start a
blog so I can share my personal experience and thoughts online.
Please let me know if you have any kind of suggestions
or tips for brand new aspiring bloggers. Appreciate it!

      Hi Jim:

it does require a significant amount of work.
First you have to set up the site – which could be WordPress.com or WordPress.org, if you want more flexibility an host yourself.
I hired a web designer for my site and have him on a monthly retainer to keep the plugins updated and make any important changes; he is also good with graphics which I am not.

To get traction, you need to blog at least weekly, ideally on the same day. If you blog more often, the better.
Be clear about your objectives and target audience, and pick the best keywords.

I was on a WordPress hosted blog for years and they have great templates; example: http://yogaforyoutoo.wordpress.com. This blog is low maintenance.
Once you are set up, blogging is so easy nowadays. If you like to write, it will come natural to you and it’s very rewarding. Sometimes like therapy :-).

Let me know if you have any other questions. I have some information on how to set up a WordPress blog in this Slideshare Deck: http://www.slideshare.net/NataschaThomson/how-to-increase-your-social-media-presence-social-media-102 (Starts at slide 10).
